ID Studio has partnered with DreamYard Project, a Bronx-based arts education organization, and the Théâtre du Bout du Monde in Nanterre, France, to create an innovative and exciting multi-year collaboration between 12-16 year olds in the Bronx and in Nanterre. This collaboration, which started in Summer 2014, is a two-year long theatre residency and exchange between the Bronx Theater Company at Middle School 331 and the Théâtre du Bout du Monde’s teen company in Nanterre. Throughout the two years of theater workshops in clowning, satire, and physical comedy, the two companies share written work virtually, “meet” twice per month on Wednesdays to communicate, do theater exercises together and even develop material using video teleconferencing on Skype.
In July 2015, after performances of Three Beggars and a Rich Man by the French playwright Louis Calaferte at the French Alliance and Middle School 331 in New York City, the Bronx teens traveled to France, performing with their French counterparts at the Maison de la Musique de Nanterre, and at the Maison des Pratiques Artistiques Amateurs (MPAA) in Paris. In turn, in July 2016 the teens from Nanterre will travel to New York City to perform the work they developed and to work again with their counterparts in the Bronx.
